About Kenalog®?
At MedSpa California we safely and effectively perform steroid (Kenalog) injections into inflamed and cystic acne lesions. This will quickly decrease that “huge bump” that is below the surface of the skin, which will resolve without leaving a scar. This treatment is performed only by our trained medical team and is a safe and effective way to treat acne without damaging the skin.

How are Kenalog treatments done?
Kenalog injections can be used to correct acne cysts. Unlike topical steroids, Kenalog injections reduce the chance of thinning the skin surface and remedy the issue faster.
During treatment, the cyst will be cleaned, and the Kenalog will be injected into the skin lesion using a fine needle. The dose of the injection will vary depending on the size and type of the lesion being treated. Patients can receive these injections every 4-8 weeks if needed.
Who is a good candidate?
Individuals living with painful cystic acne can often benefit from this treatment. Those with an active skin infection or those with a history of triamcinolone allergy should not receive Kenalog injections. A consultation with one of our skin experts will be needed to determine if this treatment option is right for you.
Results
Kenalog injections are the quickest way to treat cystic acne, with cysts shrinking within 4-8 hours after injection. Results will then continue to improve for the next several days. Kenalog injections can also help to prevent scarring from deep cystic acne.
