SCULPTRA® INJECTION

What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable poly-L-lactic acid that helps gradually replace lost collagen. A MedSpa California RN will inject it into the deep dermis, and it is naturally absorbed into the body to help stimulate the body’s own growth of new collagen over time. While Hyaluronic Acid fillers like Juvederm and Voluma are composed of a substance already found in the body that is broken down over time, Sculptra works via a different mechanism, inducing your body to produce more of its own collagen. Sculptra is not truly permanent, as we naturally lose collagen as we age, but its effects can last up to two years, longer than Hyaluronic Acid fillers.

In addition, it works gradually by inducing the production of collagen over the days and weeks post-treatment. It typically requires 3 treatments over a 3 to 4 month period of time and can be used for sculpting the temples, augmenting the cheeks and contouring the jawline. It is also used off-label for non-surgical buttock augmentation.

Considering Sculptra?

There is no specific chronological age that determines when you should have a rejuvenating procedure; the best way to know when it’s right to call for a consultation is when you look in the mirror and see something that truly bothers you. Likewise, there is only one person to have plastic surgery for you and you alone. It should never be undertaken due to pressure from others.

What are the Goals of Sculptra?

Sculptra treatment is a non-surgical solution to replenishing facial volume. Gauntness can be replaced by youthful, radiant contours, and hollows can be plumped by increasing facial volume.

If one understands that wrinkles of the skin are caused by the slow weakening of a patient’s deeper dermal structures over time, it is obvious that replenishing, or filling in, the base of wrinkles will result in repair. The goal of Sculptra is to act as a liquid building block, filling smoothly and naturally the unwanted wrinkle, depression or line.

Of the utmost importance in administering fillers is retaining the harmony and natural proportions of the face. Overzealous use and subsequent overfilling of natural anatomic structures can produce unsightly results and the unwanted “fake” look. Used in conjunction with Botox and fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, Bellafill, and Radiesse.

Sculptra Results

Sculptra is extremely effective as a partial facelift alternative, especially when administered by an expert injector at MedSpa California. When the injection process is performed as recommended by Sculptra, which is three or four injection sessions about one month apart, results from Sculptra can last up to 36 months. Sculptra is a very popular and effective volumizer for the cheeks and area around the nose.
